Enjoy Stunning Views Ballooning Over Grantham
Head due south of Grantham and you'll discover Stoke Rochford Hall, a grand Victorian country house set amongst its landscaped grounds and the rolling Lincolnshire countryside. It is from here that our second Grantham launch site takes passengers skyward, offering one of the most elegant backdrops for a balloon flight in the East Midlands.
As the balloon rises from the parkland, the Hall itself is often the first landmark to stand out — turrets and stonework framed by sweeping lawns and avenues of trees. From there the view broadens quickly. To the north, Grantham comes into sight, with the tall spire of St Wulfram’s Church marking the skyline. East and west, the land opens into a patchwork of fields, woods and villages linked by winding lanes.
Depending on the breeze, flights may drift southwards towards Woolsthorpe Manor, the birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton. It was here, in the orchard, that the falling apple is said to have inspired his ideas on gravity. To the west, the Vale of Belvoir stretches across gentle hills, while on very clear days the horizon may carry as far as Rutland Water or the ridges of Leicestershire.
Each flight is different, shaped entirely by the wind on the day. Some journeys remain close to Grantham and its surrounding villages, while others travel further across the countryside, opening broad views that shift with every mile.
Launching from Stoke Rochford Hall combines a setting of architectural grandeur with the quiet thrill of ballooning. The calm drift of the basket, the changing perspectives and the variety of the East Midlands landscape make a flight here an experience that lingers long after landing.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the experience last?
The flight itself usually lasts around an hour, but you should allow approximately four hours for the full experience, including briefing, inflation, landing and return transport.
When do balloon flights take place?
Balloon flights usually take place around sunrise or sunset, when the air is most stable and the light is often at its best.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable outdoor clothing and flat shoes. Launch fields can be damp or uneven, so it is best to dress for a countryside walk.
Where will we land?
The landing spot depends on the wind direction on the day. The balloon crew follows during the flight and returns passengers to the original meeting point afterwards.
Can children take part?
Children can take part in hot air balloon flights provided they are aged seven or over and at least 4ft 6in (1.4m) tall. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Requirements can occasionally vary, so it is always worth checking the latest voucher terms before booking.
What happens if my flight is cancelled?
Balloon flights are weather dependent and may occasionally need to be cancelled if conditions are not suitable for flying. If this happens, you can easily rebook for another date under the voucher's extension policy. These precautions are taken to help ensure your safety and the best possible balloon flight experience.
